I wonder if letter writing will revive / survive. I write fewer than I did.

Since my mother died I have had great pleasure in reading letters sent to her ( some by me ).

In the family we have quite a stack of letters including those written by my paternal grandfather in the fist two decades of the twentieth century.

My mother in law ( 1918 to 2012 ) was also a great letter writer, and we have some from her too.

I enjoyed your post June - it was like having a chat with a friend in the garden over a cup of tea….

I confess that despite being a huge fan in my teens I did not enjoy Rod Stewart’s performance. Sometimes knowing when to stop can be a good thing! Thank you for the introduction to Ann Bridges.

Yeah, I know what you mean. I always think how one would react if someone you know locally, 80 years old, dressed and looked like that. I mean, you’d just laugh, wouldn’t you?

I hadn’t really thought of it like that but probably!

I hope you enjoy it. It may not be to everyone’s taste because of the cultural mores of the period (the upper class British abroad etc), but I loved it!

I can handle quite a bit of upper class British abroad in literature (or American if Henry James) - especially if they shock with bad behaviour.

The Ann Bridges book sounds very interesting. She also sounded like she lived a very fruitful life.

Love to read you weaving "After the Goldrush" into this reflection! (One of my favourite records .. .) Hang in there with the crazy heat.
