So sorry I am late to this. We, I think, we're the first to get a hosepipe ban and am trying to keep the veg patch going at least, but it is jolly hard work and just wish some rain would come. So many plants have curled up their toes and the garden looks dreadful. I have been meaning to read Margery Sharp and, from your review, I feel sure I will enjoy her!
June, I hadn’t realised it was the Big Butterfly Count. We’ve had several visiting our garden lately. Just yesterday, while I was making my mid-morning coffee, a red admiral landed on the nearby window. Well, I say she was a red admiral. Looking at your photo, I’m wondering if she was actually a painted lady. Either way, she sat there quite contentedly, letting me appreciate her lovely colours and patterns through the clear glass.
Excellent read as always June. I’ve given up with the garden, especially as now we are a week into our hosepipe ban. After your recommendation we started watching I, Jack Wright last night… it’s excellent, thank you!
I appreciate reading your review of Rhododendron Pie. I've read several of Margery Sharp's novels, but I have yet to find a copy of this one in my library. The one I read most recently was Something Light which was unexpectedly delightful, in my opinion.
I've also read many of The Barsetshire novels by Angela Thirkell, but I would love to know more about her personal life and history. Thanks for the recommendation!
I enjoy your writing, June - its gentle warmth and the fact that I always learn something
Thanks Robin! Hope you are okay and doing well.

Try Marjorie Sharp’s Follish Gentlewoman . Absolutely delicious!
Ooh, I will!
Love this publishing house dedicated to women.
It’s been hot here too. Air quality is terrible because of fires in Canada. 🙁
That must be awful. Hope it improves soon.
